I guess the best place to start this blog would be where it all ended, so to speak. Seb and I left Hong Kong on May 14 of this year. It was my home for 5 years, and 3 years for Seb. It was not even halfway through 2013 yet and our lives had already been a whirlwind of change. But no more feeling like we were living our backup life, a plan B life!
This is us on the Kowloon waterfront on a perfect afternoon, having our pre-flight meal at BLT. We used up the last of our gift vouchers collected from years of ordering delivery meals. We had enough credit to have a luxurious meal filled with the best steak, lobster salad and wine! The perfect treat to cap off our lives in the Fragrant Harbour.
So there we were, on the precipice looking out towards an uncertain future. No matter what happened, it would be a learning experience and something to remember.
PS: the giant yellow duck sitting in the Harbour was an art installation by Dutch conceptual artist Florentijn Hofman, and is intended to be a ‘catalyst of joy’. HKers love this type of kitschy cute stuff and couldn’t take enough photos of it!
