Memories old and new

As a fan of Jane Austen novels and films with gorgeous cinematography featuring the English countryside, I knew I would love the city of Bath before even setting foot there.  Since the weather forecast promised a sunny afternoon, we decided to take a last minute drive out from London and spend a few hours taking in the sights.

Bath is beautiful and the perfect size for exploring on foot.  All the sights are within about a 20 minute walk at the most from each other, and the architecture is stunning.  We narrowed down our itinerary for the day to the Roman baths, Fashion Museum and Assembly Rooms, which left us time to stroll around outside.

In between sights we stopped by the Retro Cafe, an old haunt of Seb’s during his student days at the University of Bath, for a simple but hearty lunch.

The rest of our time was spent outdoors, stopping by the River Avon, Royal Crescent, and the Circus.
